Unlocking Insights: Exploring Our Case Study and Uncovering Key Learnings

ADA parking compliance is a term used to describe the guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for parking spaces.

These guidelines require that parking spaces be accessible to individuals with disabilities, and include features such as designated parking spots, ramps, and signage.

If a business is not ADA compliant, they may be subject to legal penalties. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is responsible for enforcing the ADA and can file lawsuits against businesses that are not in compliance. Businesses that are found to be in violation of the ADA may be required to pay fines, make changes to their facilities, or both.

Challenge

Sweetwater HOA has miles of dirt roads winding through the hills outside of Garden City. Erosion and road conditions during the winter and wet weather made access less than ideal. The HOA contacted Top Job to pave the roads. Traffic control was a challenge, maintaining access to the cabins, many of which are short term rentals, was crucial. There were several steep hills, so placing and compacting the mix would also be a challenge.

Solution

Additional traffic control was budgeted to accommodate the public, and phasing was carefully planned to minimize impact. The roller used for compaction turned out to be too heavy for some of the steepest areas, and the asphalt stretched and cracked. Top Job returned and replaced the stretched areas at no cost to the customer.

Summary

Despite careful planning, it is not possible to foresee every contingency. Care was taken to ensure a positive outcome on a tricky project, and when the outcome was sub standard, Top Job stood behind their work and made it right.
