ADA Compliance,
Ogden Utah
ADA parking compliance is a term used to describe the guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for parking spaces.
These guidelines require that parking spaces be accessible to individuals with disabilities, and include features such as designated parking spots, ramps, and signage.
If a business is not ADA compliant, they may be subject to legal penalties. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is responsible for enforcing the ADA and can file lawsuits against businesses that are not in compliance. Businesses that are found to be in violation of the ADA may be required to pay fines, make changes to their facilities, or both.

Challenge
A resident of an apartment complex logged an official complaint with the ADA about deficiencies in the parking and walkways of the complex. The complex was sent a detailed warning, and reached out to Top Job for help. Among other problems, the main issue was that there was some covered parking, but the ADA stalls were not covered. The complex was anticipating building additional covered parking, as well as removing and replacing sections of parking lot, side walk, and landscaping. The project, as specified, constituted a major expenditure.
Solution
Top Job thoroughly reviewed the written warning, and field verified each and every infraction, including recording existing slopes. After creating a detailed map of slopes, it was determined that a little creative rework on the striping, and putting in a small handicap ramp would address all the noncompliant issues. This moved the handicap parking area underneath an existing parking structure, eliminating the need to construct additional structures.
